AI Can't Replace Formal Writing and Blogging

I would like to make my statement clear first:

I don’t support AI being used in formal writing and blogging

This post is 100% written by a human.

So, I would like to ask you a question first.

What are you expecting to see when viewing people’s writings?

For me:

  • I expect people to use their time and their own thinking in the post.
  • I expect to hear the voice of that person, not anyone else.

Writing is not like speaking; you need to think before you write. And you can organize and review your thoughts before posting.

This does not mean your writing must be of high quality. It just means I expect to see thinking in the text.

AI breaks these. Totally.

Recently, I found a paint-by-numbers kit in my home. I bought it about half a year ago.

The paint dried.

How long has it been since you last calmed down and slowly finished these activities?

TikTok, Shorts—these things make short videos become a trend, ‘replacing’ long videos.

But you can see, they cannot bring you thinking; you just feel the need to scroll down endlessly.

Thinking is something you can see in writing, reading, movies, and news. But shorts cannot bring you thinking, and AI posts cannot let you see thinking.

Imagine a world where AI can meet all our needs. You can see everything around the world without even moving a step. Those who keep thinking become a minority—conservatives.

Just to clarify. As what you can see from the content above: I am against living at a fast pace. But I won’t do something like a digital detox. And:

I’m not saying that we should not use AI to write anything.

AI is good. I do use AI every day. I do use AI to write a lot of my code.

But I review it. I never use AIGC (AI-generated content) to express myself. I never treat AI as a friend.

I’m not saying that I am different or that I am right. I’m just expressing my mind using my own hands.

Let me get back to the start.

AI can’t replace formal writing and blogging.

I think I’ve made my point well.
